Employment Offer (December 12, 2010)

I wasn't expecting any emails today because it's a Sunday. But then it's a habit to check my mailbox once in awhile. I saw 1 new message... it's from Qatar Airways! Then I realized that, Sunday is their first day of work!

Just got my Employment Offer from QR! I'm leaving on January 29, 2011. Then I did print the forms sent, and immediately asked my hubby to sign as witness, as well as my Dad. Mixed emotions brought me to tears :( I will miss my family so much :( I won't be home that often :( But sometimes, things need to change for the better. I want to have a bright future and for my family. I really don't know where to find strength and courage to decide right on, I need this job, it's for my own growth.

The long wait is over (December 9, 2010)

It was a Thursday. I've been nervous for this whole recruitment thing, added another issue regarding my facial scars. I really am not sure whether they will approve it or not, because for all I know, Qatar Airways' is very strict on skin complexion. So around 2 PM, I checked my email, and then I'm so afraid of what I'll read inside the inbox... It's an email from Qatar Airways'.... Here's a screen shot....

Yahoo!! I'll be leaving on January 29, 2011! Though there's a condition that if my 7 degree Scoliosis Condition would worsen, QR won't be liable of any complications in the near future. So I confirmed this email and Ms. Barbie emailed that my Offer of Employment will arrive thru email next week! :) I'm so happy because most of us got the Golden Email!!! :) Thank you God :) Everyone's so happy! :) I'm fortunate to have them :) Though whenever I think of leaving it saddens me as well :( I'll be missing them, especially my hubby :( I'll just have to enjoy the rest of my days here :) The great part is that I'd spending Christmas and New Year 2011 here with them :) To God Be the Glory :)

QR Update (December 7, 2010)

I'm supposed to head out, buy something at Shopwise, then I received a phone call from an unknown number. I wasn't expecting a call from QR right away! It's Ms. Barbie :) She's so kind enough to give me a call to give me a feedback regarding the previous photos I sent them. The birthmark on my stomach, upper left arm, birthmoles are approved by their grooming department, because everything is hidden, not visible whilst in uniform. And as per Chinese Mole Meanings, A mole on the back of a lady’s knee reveals one who will have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy good relationships with most people! Haha! Kudos to that! But the only picture she wants me to retaken is my profile. Because I was wearing make up on it, the grooming department wants nothing on, but nude. Ms. Barbie even informed me that my facial scars aren't too visible because it's not too deep to be noticed. After that, my hubby had a photoshoot once again, my chickenpox scars as his subject! Harhar! :D Then I emailed it right away. After a few hours she emailed back that we'll be informed once QR's grooming department gives feedback regarding my issue... Crossed fingers on this part :)

IPAMS' Update (December 6, 2010)

Though I'm in cloud 9, I still doubt whether SM Lazo will forward my Medical Results right on. I stayed home, prepared necessary paper works in the office regarding SSS, Philhealth and Pag-Ibig Fund Contributions of employees. Then around 2 PM, my hubby received a phone call from Ms. Rocel. She informed me that my Medical Results are forwarded to Qatar Airway's HR Department. Everything was cleared, except for the extremities (an extreme or severe measure) part. The Doctor jot all the birthmarks and scars she saw on my body and face. I was informed as per Ma'am Barbie's, to send them photos of the said flaws immediately to expedite the evaluation process. Ms. Rocel was clueless, because she didn't notice my healed chicken pox scar on my nose, but I'm confident with it, because Ms. Jillian declared on my application beforehand. My hubby is supportive enough to take shots of my birthmark on my left stomach, upper left arm, chicken pox scars on my nose, left and right cheeks, as well as my birthmoles at the back of my left leg and below my armpit. We were laughing our hearts out, because he knows that I hate to be taken pictures with, I ain't photogenic enough to satisfy his portfolio! :( So I sent them right away after he reduced the file size :) Hoping for the best! I so love Khubby, though I know he doesn't want me to go, but I need to because we so have family commitments to pay off, he shows his huge support in a mile :)

S.M. Lazo Final Visit (December 3, 2010)

I went to St. Jude and my dentist checked everything and it's all set :) They gave me dental clearance on every procedure that was done. I went straight to S.M. Lazo to have my final check up! Ms. Baby informed that my Chest X-ray is already cleared :) I went to their Dentist, and she is pleased with the outcome. As I expected, she did clear my Dental! Yahoo!!! Went back to Ms. Baby with a huge smile :) She told me as happy as I am that I already finished everything and all the tests are normal :) They will forward the results to IPAMS on a Monday morning :) Because I went there around 4 PM because traffic is everywhere. As I drove my way home, I can't help but sing Bon Jovi's "Livin' On a Prayer"

Day Two @ S.M. Lazo Clinic ( November 25, 2010)

Got there around 7:30 and saw my fellow applicants as well. Had a few chat and proceeded with our medicals.

1. Laboratory for Blood Testing
2. X-ray
3. Dental

So I accompanied my friend to UP Dentistry at the back of Robinsons Place for her panoramic x-ray.  Then we both went to her dentist at St. Jude for dental repair! Then we both came back to SM Lazo, Ms. Baby told us to consult with their Doctor regarding our Thoracic X-ray which was diagnosed with a mild case of scoliosis! Hello Anlene!

Meeting with IPAMS' CEO and medical at S.M. Lazo (November 24, 2010)

We were advised by Ms. Rocel to arrive in their office around 8 AM. I got there before the given schedule. I met other applicants from the morning batch who also made the final cut. We were 8 by that time, but we were informed that 10 of us made it :) We filled out forms for medical, insurance and other pre-requisites from IPAMS and QR. Then we met the CEO of IPAMS. After that, around noon, me and my friend decided to take a lunch first before heading to medicals. We paid less than 4K for the pre-employment medical exams. But we weren't able to finish everything, because we still don't have a panoramic dental x-ray. So we still have to go back to SM Lazo the next day.

QR FI Result ~ 8th Day Countdown (Nov. 23, 2010)

Email from Qatar Airways... I Passed the Final Interview off to Medicals!

I had my passport changed, from my Maiden to Married name last November 8. Well actually, I was there on a Monday, but DFA was jampacked! So I came back the other day, November 9th. I had it rushed, because I'm too excited to get it right away :) I was waiting for 2GO to deliver my travel document, I kept tracking it on their website, but nothing came up. I was so worried that I went to DFA at Aseana near Sm Mall of Asia to inquire about my passport. Ok... it was there ready for delivery. I didn't ask for a refund, because I forgot to! So they handed my new E-Passport :) I got home around 4 PM. I remembered that I forgot to attach a photocopy of my passport because I had it renewed. So I scanned my document and emailed it to Ms. Kaye and Ms. Avina of QR. Then I refreshed the browser. Then I saw (1) Inbox. Clicked it. And then I screamed! Can't take my eyes off the screen! I passed the Final Interview!

Qatar Airways Male & Female Manila Final Interview (Nov. 15, 2010)

I had trouble locating their office. Thanks Apple :)

By the way, I forgot to include this on my previous post. We were asked to choose different time slots between 1 PM to 3:30 PM. I chose 2:30, my friend at 2 PM. My day started at 10 AM. I don't know what to wear. I thought of wearing my white short sleeved blouse, which I refer to as my lucky top. Eventually, the flat iron's not working! So I asked someone to do the ironing. I also asked another to have my pictures developed at Digiprint. Around 1 PM, I took a bath and everything! I was able to prepare in a breeze! I got at IPAMS around 2:30 PM, and saw another fellow applicant who is late for her scheduled appointment. Both of us arrived at the office and was assisted by Ms. Rocel. Little did I know, that the girl I'm with, is big in Bangkok's modeling industry, which was later mentioned by my friend. So after 30 minutes, my name was called and asked to take a sit, I made a mistake sitting on Ms. Laura's chair! It's so embarrassing! They just laughed and continued with my interview. It was a smooth interview. Like talking with a friend :) half hour had passed and my interview went well. Ms. Jillian said "Say hi to your chow chows " :) So I wished the remaining applicants best of luck and went straight home. We were advised to wait for an email from Qatar Airways within 3 weeks for the results...

Qatar Airways Male & Female Manila Assessment Day ~ Shortlisted candidates only (Nov. 14, 2010) / Pacquiao-Margarito Event

Main Event of the Evening

My husband and I decided to attend the earliest worship service, around 6 AM. Always put God above everything else :) I always seek HIS Guidance all the time. After church, we drive thru McDonald's and ordered breakfast meals. We went home around 8 AM. My hubby is so excited to watch the boxing event of Pacquiao-Margarito!! Me too! But yeah, I have to take a power nap, before going to the Assessment! I set the alarm at 11 AM, so I have enough time to prepare. I doze off around 10 AM... my eyes were glued on the Pinoy Exchange Forum regarding QR Updates, but was able to sleep afterwards. I had a hard time getting up, I'm such a sleepy head! So exactly 12 NN, I drove like crazy!! I don't want to be late for today's event! Thank God, I arrived at Diamond Hotel 30 minutes past 12. So I was assisted by the Concierge, because I got lost inside! I thought it still be held at Rizal Ballroom, but it was moved upstairs. I went to the registration table, and signed beside my name on the list, and handed my name with a number "8" on a white sticker. Afterwards, Ms. Rocel asked me to wait at the ...I'm not so sure if it's Ruby or Opal Room. So I went inside, and saw fellow applicants. All of them are gorgeous! We were around 50 for the afternoon batch, to be exact: 1 guy and 49 girls :) Lucky Guy indeed! For the morning batch, same number of applicants as well. We were waiting for almost an hour and a half. I got to know 2 of my seatmates, who are both stunning :) We talked about Qatar Airways Recruitment Process, what to expect. Before getting freezed to death, we were asked to line up outside the ballroom, which is warmer :p 15 minutes passed and we saw just 5 applicants from the earlier batch, which are included for tomorrow's Final Interview. We were instructed to sit wherever we want to. The AD started with a QR Presentation. Ms. Laura Paris (from Argentina) and Ms. Jillian Herft (from India, but grew up in Doha, Qatar) discussed Qatar Airways company background, the complete description of what we're applying for, benefits, rules and regulations and of course, salary :) I guess it took an hour for that thorough discussion. And then we were told to take a 15 minute break. All of us, made a very quick stop at the comfort room! It only has 3 cubicles, and yeah we're 50.. so there... I went back inside the ballroom, before 15 minutes ran out. They're strict with Time. So you have to manage the given time frame, because the ROs are keen on every move we make. Time check, 3:15, they gave us test booklets and papers, which is in alternate order. Test A - Test B - Test A. I got Test Booklet A. We were given 50 minutes to finish our exams. While answering the tests, we were called one by one, for the 212 cms. Reach Test without heels. Ms. Laura instructed us to take our shoes off, and just walk towards them with our stockings on. "Number 8", Ms. Laura said. I immediately responded without my shoes on, but with a growling stomach and left in the middle of the essay part. I passed the reach test, then they checked my skin and face. Asked if I have any birthmarks to declare, then Ms. Jillian asked, "What's this?", while pointing my noise, specifically my healed chickenpox scar, which I acquired when I was in 4th year High School. We go way back 1996... So there. I went back to my desk and finished the exam. "Times Up", Ms. Laura said. They said to wait outside and be back after an hour or less. They're about to do the Initial Cut :( The three of us went to the hotels Deli Bar and ordered coffee and food. I'm in a thrifty disposition for a month, and though I can't argue with the fact that my hunger is whetting my appetite, I bought Clubhouse Sandwich with fries on the side and a cup of coffee... It tastes like heaven... because I'm so hungry! So while trying to finish my food, I was worried that I won't make it, because of my facial scar :( Anyway, I wasn't able to eat everything on the plate, so I ended holding a huge paper bag! We got upstairs and then went inside the ballroom to hear the first cut of applicants who will be included for the next step. "If your number is called, please stay for the next activity." Then Ms. Laura called out "Number 8". OMG... that's my number!!! I zoned out for almost 5 mins... then I saw an acquaintance from PAL! We don't talk that much before, because we're both from different CSA Batch. Then we exchanged names and then she asked if I'm still connected with PAL. Moving on, we're down to 8. That's a big leap! So we were asked to form a big circle and they gave us a Group Activity. It's a test whether you can blend in with one another. Then after the activity, they let us wait again outside, because they will deliberate who gets in the Final Cut for tomorrow's Interview. Our hearts were pounding! We don't know what to expect! So after 15-20 minutes, Ms. Jillian called out the ones who are included for tomorrow's Final Interview. "Number 8" OMG.... to the 10th power! I kept nudging my friend, then her number was called out as well! :) And then we were 6.... We all felt bad for those who didn't make it :( But the ROs must make a decision... So they handed us different QR forms to be accomplished once we get into the medicals, after passing the Final Interview tomorrow. Then also hand-outs on what to expect from Qatar Airways, Rules and Regulations are also included in it. Then Ms. Laura and Ms. Jillian evaluated out 2x2 and Whole Body Photos. She told me to take another set of pictures with me tomorrow, because the ones I gave out are too bland, it seemed like I'm not wearing any make up at all. They want me to look great, by suggesting to wear a red lipstick and eyeshadow that will compliment my skin. Then after, they all wished us the best of luck for tomorrow. Went home around 7 in the evening! Then asked my hubby to take my pictures with his camera. Because I'm so dead tired and hungry :( By the way, Pacquiao won the fight! Proud to be Pinoy! :)

                                                            My Lucky Number 8 :)

I'm craving for Clubhouse Sandwich with fries on the side.. Yum!

Qatar Airways Male & Female Manila Open-Day CV Submission Day (Nov. 13, 2010)

It was a memorable evening last night. I celebrated my Birthday with my family. I haven't seen any of my friends for a month. Everyone's busy with their lives. So there it was... I have this huge white cake from Costa Brava, with a single candle on top, everybody's singing a birthday song, before putting it off, I made a wish... And the next day, I dragged myself out of the bed as early as 5 AM. It's Qatar Airways Open Day. Anyway, I wore my Short-Sleeved White Blouse and Black Suit and Pumps. I decided to prepare everything before leaving. Left around 6:30 AM. I was there at exactly 7 AM. When I got there, the first batch of applicants entered the ballroom. I was included in the 2nd batch of applicants who lined up for the OD. They did hold the line for about 30 minutes. As I await my turn to register, I browsed my facebook and replied those who greeted :) So by the time, I was busy surfing, we're called in. An hour and a half passed, and the recruiters entered the ballroom. 2 Filipinas, who are from IPAMS and the other 2 are from Qatar Airways, both foreign. I was called by the IPAMS Recruitment Officer, asked questions about my previous employment, answered promptly and said thank you.  Those who will advance on the next screening process, which is Assessment,  will receive a call later in the afternoon. So I got home around 11 AM, and slept for a couple of hours, because I have to meet up with my Highschool Bestfriend, whom I haven't seen for...roughly, 13 years. So I went to the hotel where she's staying at, met her husband and 2 wonderful kids. Time flies so fast... they already have children of their own, she has grown into a mature and responsible woman :) While I was chit-chatting with them, my phone rang... excused myself and ran towards the Anahaw Plant near the pool area and answered the call! It's from IPAMS!! As I answered the call, she told me that I am part of tomorrow's assessment day at 1 PM which will be held again in the same venue. All I said was, "Thank You Ma'am, Thank You :) OMG... I am one of the candidates for the next day's AD :) So there, I joined their chit-chat after the call. They thought my husband called, so I just said "Yes"! I  don't want to pre-empt, so decided to keep mum about it..
